As I hiked through the lush forest and approached the falls, the sound of rushing water grew louder and my heart raced with anticipation. It was also racing because of the uphill hike.
And then I saw it – a stunning curtain of water cascading down a cliff face, sending mist and rainbows everywhere.
It is not the size and force of Yoro Falls that is truly awe-inspiring.
It was more the vibe of peace and tranquility the modest waterfall created.
I can best describe it as the perfect place to meditate where you feel every breath you breathe is so fresh and pure.
Of course, this ideal place is also a tourist spot, so don’t expect you can actually go and meditate there.
The beauty of this place is not just in the falls themselves – it’s also in the surrounding nature, with its vibrant greenery, chirping birds, and beautiful bridges crossing the river created by the fall.
I spent a few hours exploring the trails and taking in the scenery, feeling grateful for the opportunity to experience such a magnificent place so close to my home.
100 Yen Museum; Lamps made from Gourds
As a lover of all things quirky and unexpected, I was thrilled to discover the Gourd Lamp Museum in Yoro park. Tucked away in a quiet village this hidden gem is a celebration of the humble gourd and its many uses.
As I entered the museum, I was greeted by the sight of dozens of intricately crafted lamps, each one made from a different shape of the gourd. The colors, shapes, and textures of these lamps were truly breathtaking, and I couldn’t help but marvel at the creativity and skill that went into their creation.
The artworks are not for sale, but for only 100 Japanese Yen you get to admire the artwork and enjoy a talk with the owner. Apparently, the shape gourds he needs to make these lamps are relatively rare to grow, also he doesn’t want to rush with his artwork which is why he doesn’t sell the magical gourd lamps.
